Mariners 3, Blue Jays 2
SEATTLE — Rookie Michael Pineda dazzled in the first home start of his career, taking a shutout into the eighth inning for his first major-league win. The 22-year-old, making just his second start, was clocked as high as 99 mph on the stadium radar gun and worked in nasty off-speed pitches. Pineda went 71/3 innings, giving up five hits and one earned run and striking out seven. Ryan Langerhans hit a two-run homer in the third off Blue Jays starter Ricky Romero, who retired 14 straight at one point.
