Tonight's game between the Tampa Bay Rays and Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park has been rained out.

It has been raining pretty much all day in Boston – along with temperatures in the low 40s — and the forecast gets only slightly better later on, with the chances of precipitation dropping to 30 percent from 5-7 p.m. and then going back up to 60 percent until after midnight.

No word yet on a makeup date. The Rays return to Boston Aug. 16-17 and Sept. 15-18.

Presumably the Rays will just pitch their pitchers back, so James Shields would open the homestand on Thursday against the Twins, with Wade Davis, Jeff Niemann and Jeremy Hellickson working the next three games.
