Looking the other way
Neither Bruins RW Nathan Horton, left, nor the Lightning faces league discipline for an incident after Game 6 at the St. Pete Times Forum, NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly wrote in an e-mail Thursday. "Based on what I know, I don't expect any action of any kind," Daly wrote. The incident occurred at the conclusion of Tampa Bay's 5-4 win Wednesday, when fans showered the ice with rally drums given away by the team. Boston C David Krejci, standing in front of the Bruins bench, was hit in the head by one, after which Horton sprayed water from a bottle at fans and threw the bottle into the stands. The Lightning declined comment. To see video of the incident, go to tampabay.com/blogs/lightning.
Duck and cover
Lightning W Marty St. Louis found himself in a strange and dangerous place during the third period of Game 6, in the Bruins net with teammate Steven Stamkos winding up for a shot. St. Louis did the only thing he could do: duck and hope he would not get hit by Stamkos' blistering shot. "The guy … kind of pushed me or tripped me, and I fell down," St. Louis said. "I knew I was going into the net, but because we had control of the puck, I made sure I went all the way in so I wouldn't interfere with (Bruins G Tim) Thomas. I was just going to take cover and hope for the best."
Quote to note
"I don't know if I'd call it crazy, but I'd probably ask you how much I have to pay for that. You don't know how teams come together until you actually go through a few things. But as the year progressed, I realized we had something special."
Marty St. Louis when asked if he would have called crazy the idea of Tampa Bay being one win away from the Stanley Cup final
Record of the day
12-3-3 Record for the Lightning this season, including 4-0 in the playoffs, when RW Teddy Purcell scores.
